A Study on Knowledge and Practice of Personal Hygiene of Primary School¢¥s Fifth and Sixth Grade Students

Abstract
The Purpose of this study is to know the difference between the level of knowledge and practice of personal hygiene of primary school¢¥s fifth and sixth grade students. Data were collected from 652 students of 3 primary schools located in the country, middle city, and large city from December 10. to 20. 1985.
The results were as follows; .
1. The occupation of student¢¥s householder consisted most frequently of commerce, 27.5% in city area, agriculture in the country. 53.6%.
2. Hygienic facilities:
61.4070 of the students of the large city have a water closet in their house, 24.3% in the middle city, and 9.4% in the country.
51.0% of the students of the large city have a bathroom in their house, 41.6% in the middle city, and 16.0% in the country.
3. The level of economic status was "ordinary" 60.8%, "more than ordinary" 22.4% and "Less than ordinary" 13.6% in order.
4. Number of tooth brushing per day;
The highest propotion of tooth brushing was three times a day, 65.7% in knowledge while once a day, 42.0%, two times a day, 40.1% and three thimes a day, 6.0% in practice. 5. Time of tooth brushing;
The highest propotion of tooth brushing time was "after meal" 74.3% in knowledge while in practice," before breakfast" 48.3%, "after breakfast" 45.2%.
6. Handwashing after toilet;
In knowledge, "washing regulary" was the highest propotion, 92.5%, but in practice, "washing regulary", 25.8% at school and 62.7% at home.
7. Handwashing before meal;
In knowledge, "washing regulary" before meal was the highest proportion, 89.3%, but in practice, "washing regulary" was 46.2% and "washing sometimes" was 51.2%. 8. Number of bathing;
In knowledge, "once a week" was the highest propotion, 79.9%, and in practice, 68.1%.
